Forrest Ward, M.D. - Nominated for his tenacity and willingness  to go the extra mile by really listening to his patients, Dr. Ward is an internist with Rubin Ward Heart Center. He received his doctorate from the University of Tennessee, and his residency in internal medicine was with Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Role model? Kenneth Cooper, M.D. the founder of aerobics, best-selling author and recognized leader of the international physical fitness movement. He is credited with motivating more people to exercise in pursuit of good health than any other person.

Motivation? My family and the desire to provide the best medical care possible for my patients.

How do you maintain a work/life balance? I have to limit the number of people whom I see on a daily basis and control my work schedule.

What is your greatest accomplishment? The birth of my 3 healthy daughters.

Favorite song… “I’ll Be There” by The Jackson Five

What would you do if you weren’t a doctor? I love to cook.  I find it relaxing and I would love to be a chef.

My patients… know that I will spend whatever time necessary to evaluate their problems and will thoroughly explain what I am doing and why.

What is the most exciting medical breakthrough you’ve witnessed in your career? The advent of imaging technology such as CT’s MRI’s, and ultrasonography.

Where do you see your specialty in 10 years? I see a shortage of primary care physicians and less access to healthcare for all that is why I feel that patients should be proactive in their healthcare and schedule regular screenings.

Good Health Advice? Your health is your greatest asset. Take time for periodic health evaluations and time to care for yourself.
